Karma Kitchen Events

KARMA KITCHEN is a volunteer-driven experiment in generosity as a pay-it-forward restaurant. The first Karma Kitchen opened in Berkeley, California, on 31st March, 2007 and the first edition of Karma Kitchen in Romania took place on March 31st 2018 at our school.
Imagine a restaurant where there are no prices on the menu and where the cheque reads 0 Lei with only this footnote:
“Your meal was a gift from someone who came before you. To keep the chain of generosity alive, we invite you to gift-it-forward to those who will dine after you.”
This is an amazing event that was entirely ran by our community of students, parents and friends volunteers.
Our meals were cooked and served with love, and offered as a genuine gift, without a price tag. Guests were free to pay-it-forward by contributing for the next guest coming after them.
We feel this is an incredibly powerful learning opportunity for our children to experience the generosity and for us as a community to come together.
Since the first meal, Karma Kitchen has spread to two dozen cities around the globe, nourishing bellies and spreading smiles.
