At Verita, we believe the best way to get to know us is by experiencing our community in action. You’ll have a chance to meet our founder, ask questions, tour our campus, and truly explore what it means to be part of the Verita family. Your child will also be invited to spend a Trial Day with us—an opportunity to experience life as a Verita student while allowing our team to better understand how we can support their unique learning journey.

Year Placement

Year placement is based on the student’s age (i.e., date of birth), and past records, in addition to the results of his/her interviews and tests, as explained in the admission process hereafter.

A waiting pool of applications will be created if a class is full. Verita will draw from this pool based on a priority guideline and on a review of all applications to determine those students we feel can best benefit from a Verita education.

The Principals may make exceptions, within one year, to these requirements based on previous educational experience.

Admission into Year 11 will have more stringent conditions to be met than secondary year groups from Year 10 and below. Year 11 is the second year of a two-year exam-based curriculum called the Edexcel IGCSE. Students should already be doing an IGCSE curriculum from any exam board (Edexcel, Cambridge, AQA, etc.) in Year 10 if they wish to be admitted into Year 11. The courses that they are currently taking should also be available and offered at Verita for a smooth transition.

In terms of admission into Years 12, which is the first year of the two-year IB DP programme, students applying should already be studying either the IGCSE, MYP, American Curriculum following the Common Core, or any other comparable international English curriculum. Additionally, students should already be studying the subjects in their current school for the IBDP subjects they wish to study in Year 12. For the SL subjects they wish to take in the IBDP, they should have at least a 4 on the IGCSE 1-9 scale, or equivalent in another grading scale. For the HL subjects they wish to take in the IBDP, they should have at least a 6 on the IGCSE 1-9 scale, or equivalent in another grading scale.

A student will only be admitted into year 13, the 2nd year of the IBDP programme and the last year of high school, if they are already enrolled in the IBDP programme at their current school. Additionally, the subjects that they are taking at their current school must be available at Verita in order to allow them to transition successfully.

Overall, these admissions requirements help to ensure that the applicant is prepared for a smooth transition to Verita without facing any major obstacles.

* In order to be qualified for admission in the corresponding year level, all students are required to have attained the minimum age mentioned in the column by the 1st of September of that academic year.

Currently, we have 633 pupils enrolled at VIS, of which 40% are international students consisting of 32 different nationalities.

The maximum number of students per class is 20, as set by the principal to ensure personalised attention and a quality learning experience for each student.

English is the language of instruction at Verita. This means educational programs are taught in English from Early Years through Secondary School. English is offered as a subject of study in the curriculum.

If your child is applying for grades EC – Year 2, English language proficiency is not a mandatory condition. However, if he/she is applying for Year 3 – 10, their English level will be assessed.

Verita’s international teachers are required to have an Academic Degree(s) in Education with a valid teaching certificate/license and at least two years full time classroom teaching experience. Verita’s Romanian Teachers are required to have an Academic Degree(s) in Education, with at least 2 years of full-time classroom teaching experience, preferably in a UK, US, or international school setting.

At VIS, approximately 50% of staff are international teachers.

Our programme starts at Nursery for children aged 2 years and 8 months or older on September 1st.

Age cut off date is September 1st.

New enrolments can be made at any time throughout the year depending on the availability of the places in school.

If there are no places available your child’s file will be placed on the waiting list and will be processed after the re-enrolment period has finished.

We can integrate a limited number of students with additional needs per class in order to maintain the highest standard of care.

The learning support team at verita school coordinates programs and services for students with additional needs, based on the dir/floortime model. This developmental model offers a holistic child approach, taking into account their individual differences and fostering emotional connection through relationships.

At vis we offer our students lunches and snacks that are cooked by our personal chefs and are 100% certified organic and bio. See more info here.

Our school uniforms, designed with input from all stakeholders, embody comfort and simplicity, a casual yet joyful aesthetic, modernity, and alignment with Verita Merchandise. More information about the Verita School Uniforms can be found here.

Verita International School offers quality after-school workshops expanding learning opportunities that support developmentally appropriate cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes. All our afterschool programs run directly after school at 4:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm. See more info here.

Progress Reports are issued twice a year, indicating student progress in each subject and Approaches to Learning skills. Teachers mark one of the following: No Progress, Limited Progress, Expected Progress, or Better than Expected Progress. If a subject was not taught, NA is checked.

Narrative Report Cards provide detailed feedback three times a year. They include descriptions of student progress, strengths, areas for improvement and suggested strategies, offering a more comprehensive view of skills and knowledge. These reports document learning-focused dialogue between students, parents and teachers.

At Verita we believe that regular, modest amounts of homework are an important element of improving student learning and developing the skills and attitudes that will support our students in their continued education as well as the personal initiative required in adult life.

At the start of the year, all children take baseline assessments, which provide a snapshot of their current understanding and skills. Formative assessments (assessment for learning) are ongoing, day-to-day checks that actively support and improve learning. By using flexible methods like quizzes, in-class discussions, and self-assessments, teachers gain real-time insights into student progress. Summative assessments (assessment of learning) are used to evaluate overall achievement at the end of a teaching period, such as an IPC thematic unit or a Maths block. Additionally, internal assessments in English and Maths are conducted at the end of each term. Children in Years 4-6 also sit the Progress Tests in Maths and English twice a year, an external standardised assessment provided by GL Assessments.

In secondary, students have ongoing formative and summative assessments. These assessments range from hands-on projects, tests, research activities, and many more. The focus is on project-based assessments. When students get older into the high school years of secondary, they engage in more demanding exam-based assessments from the school and also from exam boards such as Edexcel IGCSE and IB DP.

The IB Diploma is often referred to as “a passport to the world’s top universities” because it provides access to universities all over the world. After completing their studies at VIS, students typically opt to attend universities in the UK, Europe, or the United States. Nevertheless, students who wish to continue their studies at a Romanian university also have that option.

Classes in Early Years and Primary School benefit from tablets and laptops that can be signed out by the teacher for different activities and projects done in the classroom. Secondary School operates exclusively based on a Bring Your Own Educational Device policy, meaning that all secondary students have to bring their own educational device to use in school. In terms of using mobile phones, we believe that the use of mobile phone devices during school hours can distract from the goal of learning, and could, if used inappropriately, be a tool for bullying. This is why Primary and Middle School students are not allowed to use their mobile phones on school grounds for any reason – that includes break time, lunchtime and after school activities, while high school students are allowed to use their phones during school hours only during breaks. More information regarding the school’s policy on technology use can be found here.
