Mental Arithmetic

The main and intelligible activity for children is related to working with objects. It is precisely such an activity that is learning to calculate with the abacus. With the help of an object, calculus is easier to learn (that is why the abacus is used),

than if we directly began to count in the mind. With the help of the Abacus, children make calculations by moving the beads so that they end up making additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions.

The goal is that after a period in which you have used the Abacus for these calculations, you will be able to project the beads in your mind so that, imagining the Abacus, you can make these calculations mentally, without using Abac.

In the first phase the children learn to maneuver the Abacus very quickly and only then move on to the part where they project their image and get to perform mental calculations.

This ability to reproduce and preserve the mental image of the abacus, gives children the opportunity to learn to focus and quickly count in the mind, thus developing reproductive thinking, and over time, this process tends to go towards an automation.

Scriere si Vorbire Corecta in Limba Romana

The workshop aims to equip the participants with the necessary knowledge in order to write and speak correctly in Romanian. Delving into grammar rules and making them more accessible and logical to young learners, the workshop …

combines fun and useful activities in order to allow for practicing a very important skill – flawless communication in students’ mother tongue. Every single session will focus on one area of communication in Romanian, such as the use of two or more “i” at the end of a word. Understanding the logic behind something is the first step in doing it right. For example, we might look into things such as when we write “copii” and when we write “copiii” or why we use a “-“ between “s” and “au” while why we don’t use it when the word “sau” has the meaning “or”. Everything in this workshop, whether we are talking about materials, quizzes, exercises, videos or other stuff will be fun, useful and clear. Secondary School

After school workshops 2022-2023

Secondary students are strongly recommended to enroll in the University Preparatory Clubs (UPC) to build up their university application portfolio highlighting their involvement and commitment.

Universities often look for students who are not only strong on the academics side, they want students who are well rounded in everything. From creativity to service to activity, a well-rounded university portfolio is what counts these days.

More importantly, it is critical for high school students to lay these foundations throughout their high school career and not only during the last two years of IB when it is required. This often looks ingenuine at times and Universities are aware of this.

Architecture

This workshop inspires the students to increase their creativity, giving them confidence and strength in everything they can imagine. Through guided play and fun projects, children learn about the relationship between the city and people,

between the city and environment, about geometry, engineering and architecture, having the opportunity to create models using tools and tricks that architects use. Another purpose would be to determine them to ask questions and find answers about their surroundings, to start thinking about the built environment and the opportunities that it has to offer. Through games, explorations, observations and analysis, students must learn to look around, to understand the mechanisms of the city, to appreciate what is done with care and skill and to see what could be improved, to further demand these things from those who represent them. It is a long process, at the same time complex and that is why it is important to start from a young age, so that the information settles and becomes a common baggage, able to generate a new perspective. Based on the principle “learning by doing”, the curriculum is 100% practical, gamified and connected to real life. At the end of one full year, kids:

  • understand what is an entrepreneur: mindset and key abilities..
  • learn what is a business and its key elements: product & experience, branding, promotion, placement – online & offline, selling price, business budget – investment, income, profit
  • develop a set of key entrepreneurial abilities, considered to be must- have skills as they help them in day by day life: teamwork, communication and presentation skills, creativity, setting SMART objectives & build an action plan)
  • develop financial literacy: how to manage our finances with efficiency and wisdom
  • organize and develop their own small businesses and then take their products to sales fairs. By taking part in the sales processes, children get in emotional contact with the market, learn about team-work value, and build in sales, presentation and “solution-finding” skills. Service Leadership Club

Our goal is to help the local community at Verita through positive action, while developing important leadership skills along the way. Our members have a call to lead through service, the courage to get involved, and a strong …

desire to grow as individuals. Service leadership is a paradigm that has been adopted by many successful companies throughout the pandemic. Leaders that are wired to give back to their communities through service and personal involvement are more effective and their organizations are more connected. We will explore the relationship between the two seemingly opposed terms of serving and leading, find concrete opportunities to help others, and learn about mastering the art of leading oneself. Students will reflect on their own attitudes and develop the habits of successful leaders, while building relationships with their peers and getting connected with the community at Verita and beyond.

A diverse and inclusive environment can be established by being aware of individual and cultural biases. The workshop aims to better equip students to steer clear of typical blunders by using real case reviews, case studies of real-world situations, and role-playing. It will help them gain a complete grasp of their role in fostering an environment that is secure and friendly.
