MEET ED

Ed Dunkelblau is the director of the Institute for Emotionally Intelligent Learning and an internationally known speaker and consultant on the topics of social-emotional learning and character development, safe schools programming, and humor in education. He has written numerous book chapters and articles and has been an organizational consultant to schools, districts, state boards of education, and corporations. Dunkelblau was the lead consultant to the Kansas Board of Education in developing the United States’s first social-emotional and character-learning standards, and he is one of the select cadre of speakers working with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Yellow Ribbon reintegration program for returning service members.

Dunkelblau’s work has been featured in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today, Reader’s Digest, and Ladies Home Journal, and on NPR and CNN. He was cohost on an episode of the Emmy award-winning TV show Nick News with Linda Ellerbee.

Dunkelblau holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas, a Master of Arts degree in psychology, and Master of Education degree in vocational and rehabilitation counseling from Columbia University. He has received numerous awards, including Alumnus of the Year award from Columbia University Teachers College; the Distinguished Alumni award from the University of Kansas; and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Applied Humor by the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor.
